Get faster, more accurate signage quotes: 7 quick tips

Waiting on quotes or getting apples-to-oranges pricing? Here are seven simple tips that help suppliers price your job accurately and respond faster.
1) Be clear on the outcome
Describe what success looks like: where the sign will be used, who needs to read it, and how long it should last (temporary vs. long-term). This frames material, durability and finishing choices.
2) Include sizes and quantities
Provide final size (e.g. 600 × 450 mm) and how many you need. If you’re unsure, share a range (e.g. 10–20) so suppliers can price stepped quantities.
3) Attach artwork or examples
Upload your logo, a PDF, or even a photo of a similar sign. A rough layout helps avoid revision rounds and keeps pricing tight.
4) Nominate materials and finishing (if you can)
Examples: aluminium composite panel (ACP), corflute, acrylic, vinyl, reflective (Class 1/2), lamination, rounded corners, pre-drilled holes. If you don’t know, say so—suppliers will propose options.
5) Tell us where it goes
Indoor displays differ from coastal, sun-exposed or high-vandal areas. Installation height and surface (brick, glass, fence) can change fixings and method.
6) Share your timing
Target delivery or install dates help suppliers plan production. If you have flexibility, mention it—lead-time options can save money.
7) Call out compliance needs
For safety/traffic signage, note the relevant standard or authority (e.g. AS 1319, MUTCD). If you’re unsure, ask suppliers to validate the spec.
